The Darling Tennis Center boasts some of the best instructional staff in Nevada. Whether you have a junior seeking to train at a National Level or you're looking for an Adult league we have a program that's right for you. Here is a list of our Coaches. Feel free to meet with them or join one of their group clinics for a complimentary class.

Adult Coaching Staff

Head Coach Jeff Foley- Director of Tennis Originally, Coach Jeff came to Las Vegas to play tennis for the UNLV Tennis Team. After graduation, Jeff became the Assistant Men's and Women's tennis coach for two years. It was here Coach Jeff decided he wanted to make teaching tennis to youth and adults his career. Jeff has been a USPTA Level 1 Certified Tennis Professional & Hi Performance coach for more than 20 years. Jeff was Director of Tennis at Red Rock Country Club from 1999-2008. Afterwards he became the Director of Tennis Job at Anthem Country Club working to develop their adult and junior programs. Currently, Coach Jeff is Director of Tennis at the Darling Tennis Center. In 2011 Coach Jeff also became the Head Coach of the Faith Lutheran Girls and Boy's Middle School and High School Tennis Team.

Coach John McCauley- Head Tennis Professional Coach John is a Texas native who reached the final of his High School State Championship competing against eventual pro player Richie Renneberg. John went on to play tennis for UNLV. After graduation Coach John became the Director of Tennis at the Flamingo Hilton for 17 years before joining the management team at Darling.

John wants to help grow Tennis in the Las Vegas community and enjoys sharing a high level of instruction with students that wasn't available to him when growing up.

Coach Marko Babac- Adult Beginner Tennis Marko Babac is the Director of the Adult Beginner Program at Darling Tennis Center. He has over 16 years of experience teaching competitive tennis. He began teaching at a Chicago country club specializing in 10 & Under Tennis and Junior Development. Since coming to DTC five years ago, Marko has developed a unique program for beginner adults. He starts new players with a month of basic development and then guides the new player to a graduation class that focuses on doubles strategy and eventually prepares players for USTA leagues. As a 2.5 league coach, his teams went undefeated, twice. He also teaches 3.0-4.0 level men and women. Marko was born in Zadar, Croatia. When not playing tennis he enjoys time with his Wife, Son & Great Dane named "Bono".

Coach Peter Nguyen- Junior and Adult Coach Coach Peter was born and raised in New Jersey. He started playing tennis at age 9. A promising USTA junior career resulted in a scholarship to play tennis at Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, NJ. After moving to Las Vegas Coach Peter began teaching at the Darling Center.

Coach Andre Schlessinger- Junior and Adult Coach Coach Andre was born in the thriving desert metropolis of Albuquerque, New Mexico on a chilly night in the Fall of 1981. After moving West to more climate friendly California Andre was given a worn out, wooden tennis racquet featuring a handle cut down by the sharp edges of his older brothers table saw. For Andre, the rest became history... Ranked #6 in Pacific Northwest Boys 18s (1st year) - NJCAA Reg 1 Singles Champion (2002) - NJCAA Reg 1 Doubles Champion (2002) - NJCAA Natl Ranking #16 (2002). Today, Coach Andre teaches at the Darling Center helping students use technique, tactics and mindset to develop the style of game best suited to each individual player.

Junior High Performance Coaching Staff

Head Coach Saad Ashraf- Director of Junior Player Development "My Philosophy is not just to teach kids to play tennis at a high level and reach their goals but to empower them with the tools they'll need to fully succeed in life". Coach Saad is a former Div 1 Collegiate coach and former Director of the USTA Intermountain Regional Training Center. Saad has developed several juniors who've won Sectional Championships and received Division 1 college scholarships including Gabby Smith (USC), Brian Foley (Boise State), Rohan Gupte (Tufts University) and many others. Coach Saad was a developmental Coach for local standout Naomi Cheong who reached a Top 10 National ranking in Girls 14s.

Coach Sten Van Beurden- High Performance Coach Coach Sten, a native from Holland, was a top player in Boys 18s. After completing a college career at (top 10) University of Alabama Sten trained on tour with Richard Kraciek and had a win over Sebastian Grosjean. After a Team Tennis stint with the Dutch Natl Team Sten began his coaching career at Georgia Tech (voted Atlantic Sunbelt Coach of the Year). In 2002 Coach Sten became a Coach at #2 ranked Baylor University where he met and coached young German player Benjamin Becker. In 2004 Baylor won the NCAA team title with Becker as singles champion. Upon graduation, Sten became his full time travel Coach on the ATP tour overseeing a rise to World #35 and a 2009 win over Andre Agassi in his last match at the U.S. Open.

Coach Lew DeLeon Coach Lew is another lifelong Nevadan and local junior tennis standout. Lew won USTA Intermountain sectional titles in both 16/under and 18/under singles and also 18/under doubles. He was ranked #1 regionally and #72 nationally in the competitive 18/under division. In 1997 he was given the Review-Journal's "All Sports Award" and the State's Pancho Gonzalez Award. Coach Lew played High School tennis for Foothill High School where he was a three-time Sunrise Zone champion and a two-time state runner-up for the Falcons. After graduation Lew played his first season of college tennis at Northern Arizona. In 2005 Lew became a member of the UNLV Rebels tennis team where he later became Asst Coach in 2012-2013.

Coach Wes Hancock- Junior Tennis Coach Coach Wes grew up in Utah as a star USTA Intermountain junior player. Wes was a 4-time 3A Utah State Singles Champion undefeated in tournament play at Pine View High School in St. George (2002-2005). More notably, Wes reached a Top Ten USTA national junior ranking in Boys 14s before playing Division 1 College Tennis for the University of Utah. After graduating with a B.S. in Sports Management Wes played several Futures tournaments as an aspiring professional in So America and Europe from 2009-2011. Coach Wes began teaching part time at the Darling Center in 2011.

Coach Vicki Parker Coach Vicki has been with the DTC teaching staff for 5 years. She was born in England and grew up in Canada playing national junior tennis for Team Canada. Coach Vicki played #1 singles both in High School and in the Division 1 program at University of Detroit Mercy where she went 21-3 as a freshman. Like Coach Rocky Coach Vicki also enjoys fitness training and strives to teach her students that "hard work pays off".

Coach Vicky is a Junior Development Coach specializing in students 10+ Under.

Coach Mike Fitzpatrick Coach Mike played High School Tennis in Las Vegas just around the corner at the Meadows School (1997). He later attended UNR and graduated in 2002. After returning to his Las Vegas roots Coach Mike starting playing recreationally. Wanting to be a more active part of the game Mike took a job at the Darling Center in 2012 teaching beginner level juniors and Seniors. Coach Mike continues in this role and is also the head racaquet stringer at Darling. In 2017 Coach Miek was recognized by the USTA as Junior Team Tennis Coach of the Year.

Coach Jack Busby Coach Jack grew up in London, England training under full sponsorship from the British Lawn Tennis Association. Growing his ITF junior ranking to #381 in the world Jack was awarded a full ride scholarship to Div 1 Oral Roberts University where he studied Business Management. After graduation Jack could only think of pursuing his dream to become a Tennis Coach and is now a member of the Darling high performance coaching staff.

"My mission as a tennis coach is to inspire children to do better. I want to be the reason kids come to the court to work out, train, better themselves and most importantly to enjoy themselves."
